Beautiful and unique custom made French cut diamond and sapphire band. The band is available with most combinations of stones in a wide variety of sizes. The term French cut refers to the facet arrangements and not the location of where the stone was cut. French cut stones are either square or rectangular. The stone has a top or table facet in the shape of a square, where the corners point to the sides of the stone. The top or crown is then completed with only 8 facets. The bottom or pavillion of the stone usually only has 4 facets. The French cut has been reportedly been around since the 1400's but really gained in popularity in Art Deco jewelry. The most common stones cut into French cuts are diamond, sapphire and ruby but any stone could be faceted as a French cut.
